Heart of Sailing introduces sailing to children and adults with developmental disabilities as a form of education and recreational therapy and operates its Daysail Program in more than 40 locations worldwide. Sailing encourages abstract thought and teamwork, develops problem-solving skills and ultimately helps one learn patience and self-respect. Each child has the opportunity to take the helm and pilot the boat, which provides them with a greater understanding of the principles of sailing and basic navigation.
